Allow. Subject to the "Personal Import Scheme". The Australian TGA stipulates that individuals can legally import unregistered medicines from overseas in quantities of up to three months at a time, and not more than 15 months in total within 12 months. The medicines are for personal use or immediate family members only and cannot be transferred to others. ( TGA related regulations )
2. Do I need to submit an application to the government in advance when importing medicines for my own use?
No prior application is required. However, there is a small chance that customs will conduct random inspections and require you to provide a prescription to prove that the medicine is required for personal treatment.
3. How much tariff do individuals need to pay for imported medicines?
Australia has zero tariffs on imported medicines, but you may need to pay Australia's Goods and Services Tax ( GST ). However, if you use the medicine for your own use and comply with the regulations, you may be exempt from paying GST .
